Nyakagezi group was famously known for its migratory
character from Uganda to Rwanda and then the Democratic Republic of Congo. It
was always on the move and it was very hard to be traced in which county they
had crossed to. But Nyakagezi has currently settled in Mgahinga national park
for quite some good years since 2012. And now tourists are assured of trekking

Wandering through the slopes of the three Virunga volcanoes

encountering other forest animals like golden monkeys, forest buffaloes and
elephants as well as several bird species. <o:p></o:p></div>

Besides trekking the Nyakagezi group in Mgahinga national

<b><a href="https://www.loveugandasafaris.com/gorilla-safaris-in-uganda-gorilla-tours.html" target="_blank"><span style="color: #990000;">Gorilla trekking</span></a></b> being a lifetime experience, it attracts
huge numbers of world trotters who want to trek into the forest just to hunt
for the mighty apes in their natural habitats. This is done in only three
blessed African countries of Uganda, Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of
Congo. <o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
The fact that trekking the gorillas entirely involves walking
through the thick rain forest, hiking up gently steep slopes, having to pave
your way out and holding onto tree branches just to support yourself through,
to finally meet the impressive apes in their natural habitats.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
This hassle, challenge and the cursing while hiking through
the slippery trails makes the whole experience so thrilling. However, it is
still the same thing that has started intimidating trekkers, asking themselves
how fit they are supposed to be to trek the great giants of the forest in
Uganda, Rwanda and the <b><a href="https://gorillasafarisinuganda.blogspot.com/2018/05/gorilla-trekking-in-virunga-national.html#more" target="_blank"><span style="color: #990000;">Democratic Republic of Congo</span></a></b>. <o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Besides the materialistic requirements that you would need
to have a comfortable trek, like the appropriate dress code with long sleeved
shirts and trousers, waterproof boots, walking stick, camera and many others,
being physically fit is also anther necessity for a successful trek in the
African jungle. <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span></div>
<a name='more'></a><o:p></o:p><br />
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
About the general physical fitness, preparation in time is
better so that you avoid disappointments during the trek, getting so tired in
just the first minutes of the trek. Any trekker should know that gorilla
trekking is different from nature walks or park walks, it requires one to keep
engaging his body in physical exercises before that exact day. <o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Most world travelers have taken advantage of the steep
slopes and terrains around their home areas to walk, stretch, jog, run around and
also attend fitness classes so as to get used to the landscape even before travelling
for the trek, don’t expect to gain the fitness on that very day of the trek.
Such simple preparations are important if one is to get a lifetime experience
with the mountain gorillas. <o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Still about that, in regards to age, the best age fit to
trek Africa’s endangered gorillas in their natural habitats is fifteen years
and above. Actually it is even one of the necessities by the wildlife
authorities in the gorilla countries that no child below fifteen years is
allowed to trek the gorillas. Not only because they are still young, but also
because they have not gained the fitness that would match with the challenging
gorilla trekking in Africa. <o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Health wise, it is appropriate for one to trek the mighty
giants of the forest when he is fully normal without any infection or disease. Be
it what we call the slight diseases like flu, cough or diarrhea, the fact that
these apes are so endangered, they are so vulnerable to such infections, and
they can easily contradict them. Besides the health of the apes, trekking the
gorillas is also not healthy for a person who is not well. The cold weather,
steep slopes and the thick forest are all unfavorable to a sick person. <o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
For the lame, elderly and weak persons who would still want
to trek the gorillas in their natural habitats, sedan chairs plus porters are
very readily available to carry through the trek though at a fair cost. So
trekking has no limit on that as long as one can afford paying the local
porters.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Questions like “Am I fit enough to trek the gorillas?”
should get off your thoughts, if the above are properly considered, then one is
very fit to trek the <b><a href="https://www.loveugandasafaris.com/combined-africa-safaris.html" target="_blank"><span style="color: #990000;">gorillas in Africa</span></a></b>.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">

Unfortunately, gorilla tracking in Africa can only be done
in three countries of Uganda, Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo. In
Uganda, travelers trek the gorillas in <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"><a href="https://gorillasafarisinuganda.blogspot.com/2017/07/gorilla-trekking-in-uganda-bwindi.html#more" target="_blank"><span style="color: blue;">Bwindi Impenetrable forest national park</span> </a></b>and <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">Mgahinga

Quite a good number of gorilla families has been habituated
and very ready to receive eight visitor per day. In Rwanda’s volcanoes national
park, there are ten habituated gorilla families, making 80 gorilla permits

in size, character, dominance, story and many more. <o:p></o:p></div>

in 2006 and is a group of 16 members who joined from other families, it homes
at the foothills of Mount Gahinga and <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">Mount

one unique feature that attracts most trekkers to this amazing gorilla family
in Rwanda.</div>
<a name='more'></a><o:p></o:p><br />
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Susa family (Susa A). This is the biggest gorilla family in
Volcanoes national park. With currently 33 members and 2 silverbacks, Susa A
was a group of 42 members before it split. It is this size of the family that captivates
a number of trekkers and the rare twins found in this group. Susa A is also
more popular to the tourists because it was the first group that <a href="https://www.loveugandasafaris.com/dian-fossey/" target="_blank"><b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"><span style="color: red;">Dian Fossey</span></b> </a>first studied back in her
years. It lives in the lower base of Mountain Karisimbi and it’s the most challenging
group to trek but still the most preferred family by almost all trekkers in
Rwanda. <o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Karisimbi group (Susa B). The family just split from Susa
family in 2008 and became independent. The group consists of 16 members with
two silverbacks. It lives at the upper slopes of Karisimbi Mountain, so
trekking this group involves hiking to high slopes of mount Karisimbi.<o:p></o:p></div>

<div class="MsoNormal">
Sabinyo family. This group got its name from mountain
Sabinyo. It inhabits the slopes between Mountain Sabinyo and Mount Mgahinga in
the Virunga ranges. It has 13 gorilla members with 2 mighty silverbacks, with
one of the silverbacks still appearing as the largest ape in Volcanoes national
park. Trekking the Sabinyo family also offers experiences like no other. <o:p></o:p></div>

Umubano family. This was just a break away from the Amahoro
family after the disagreements among the leaders. Charles the leader of Umubano
failed to agree with Ubumwe the dominant silverback in Amahoro group and they
decided to separate peacefully. Even now these two groups meet and stay
together peacefully but separate at the end of the day. <o:p></o:p></div>

<div class="MsoNormal">
Agashya family. With more than 25 group members, Agashya was
first habituated with only 13 members. It got its name from its dominant
silverback that overthrew their former leader Nyakarima. It occupies the same
territory as the sabinyo group. One of its unique features is that it runs
deeper into the forest when it senses trouble. <o:p></o:p></div>

<div class="MsoNormal">
Amahoro family. This is a family of 18 members with two
silverbacks led by Ubumwe as a dominant silverback. The name Amahoro means
peace, and it’s indeed the most peaceful group in the park for all times.
Living on the slopes of Mountain Karisimbi, trekking the Amahoro family is a
bit hectic but experience is worth every sweat.<o:p></o:p></div>

name that means “the humble one”. It formerly lived in the Democratic Republic
of Congo before it moved to Rwanda for settlement.<o:p></o:p></div>

Titus family. Being the first group to be habituated in the
days of Dian Fossey, the group has great history. It got its name from its
dominant silverback Tius. Though the group was first threatened by the poachers
who killed most of its members for meat, it’s now a steady family ready to be
trekked.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">

Bwenge Family. This is a group of 11 members led by Bwenge
silverback. It also dwells at the slopes of mountain Karisimbi and was first
opened to trekkers in 2007. Bwenge gorilla family first lost over 6 member
groups but now it stabilized its expansion.<o:p></o:p></div>

Three quarters of the total population of the endangered

shared by three countries of Uganda, Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of

Bwindi is the prime home for the mighty apes in Uganda and
Africa as well. It has four gorilla trekking regions; Buhoma, Nkuringo, Rushaga

tourists trek gorilla families respective to their regions of dwelling. <o:p></o:p></div>

Doubtlessly, <b><a href="https://www.loveugandasafaris.com/gorilla-trekking-in-buhoma-sector" target="_blank"><span style="color: red;">Buhoma</span></a></b> is the most desired gorilla region,
probably because of its easy accessibility, a wide variety of lodging facilities,
beautiful trails and the amazing gorilla families that dwell here. And out of
the three gorilla families, <b><a href="https://gorillasafarisinuganda.blogspot.com/2018/12/why-is-mubare-gorilla-family-most-loved.html#more" target="_blank"><span style="color: blue;">Mubare</span></a></b> is the most loved group here, perhaps

However, recently, also the Rushegura gorilla has gained
favor in the trekkers, it is one of the groups that every traveler wants to

gorilla family is one of the largest groups in Bwindi impenetrable forest national
park. It is a fragment away from Habinyanja group. <o:p></o:p></div>

Sometimes referred to as the R- Group, Rushegura has 16

Rushegura gorilla family is one of the easiest groups to

It is very easy to trek the Rushegura mighty apes of the

craft the Sedan wheel chairs.<o:p></o:p></div>

Other gorilla families found in Buhoma other than Rushegura

expanding, who knows. <o:p></o:p></div>

<h2>
THE POPULATION OF MOUNTAIN GORILLAS RISES ABOVE GORILLA HABITUATION LEVELS </h2>
<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
The most recent mountain gorilla census indicated that there
was an outstanding increase in the number of mountain gorillas in the Virunga
massif. This increment extended these giant apes from the critically endangered
species to just endangered, and this is good news.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
The fact that mountain gorillas are one of the rarest
species in the world, <b><a href="https://gorillasafarisinuganda.blogspot.com/2018/08/why-is-uganda-best-for-gorilla-trekking.html#more" target="_blank"><span style="color: #45818e;">gorilla trekking</span></a></b> and habituation have topped the travel
bucketlists of several people for now quite some good years without ceasing. <o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Thousands of tourists flock Uganda, Rwanda and the
Democratic Republic of Congo each year just to watch the mighty giants of the
forest carry on their daily routines in the thick jungle. These are the only
three proud countries of mountain gorillas living in their natural habitats in
the whole world, the rest you can find, might be gorillas in the zoos yet its
very hard for a gorilla to survive outside its natural habitat. <o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Gorilla trekking involves walking through the thick forest,
having to pave your way out with a stick, dodging the thorny trees and walking
on the slippery trails, all that, just in the name of hunting for the gorillas.
On encountering them, spend an hour watching the juveniles play with each
other, jumping from one tree branch to the other, silverbacks pounding their
chests just to scare away the suspected enemies, female gorillas watching over
their babies; the whole experience is simply awesome, its one that cannot
easily be forgotten. Note that one can take as many pictures as he wants
provided the camera doesn’t have a flash, it might scare away the apes.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br />
<a name='more'></a><br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
The only difference with gorilla habituation is that,
tourists doing habituation spend four full hours with the forest giants, time
that almost more than enough to satisfy all your expectations and curiosity
about the mountain gorillas. Fun enough, several tourists redo the same
habituation on almost every <b><a href="https://www.loveugandasafaris.com/uganda-safaris.html" target="_blank"><span style="color: #45818e;">safari to Uganda </span></a></b>simply because, the experience is
worth every penny spent and step walked. <o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
However, the gorilla habituation we are talking about here is in the aspect of teaching the gorillas to carry on their normal life activities in the presence of the humans. And the rapid increase in the number of gorillas in the
jungle is probably rising above the rate at which gorilla habituation has been
taking place in the Virunga massif. This population rise is now exerting a lot
of pressure on the government of the gorilla countries, wildlife authorities
and conversations who have always worked tirelessly to make sure the well being
of the gentle apes in the forests. <o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Immediate attention is needed to habituate more <b><a href="https://gorillasafarisinuganda.blogspot.com/2018/11/new-gorilla-families-in-bwindi.html#more" target="_blank"><span style="color: #990000;">gorilla families</span></a></b>, teach them how to live normally in the presence of humans, and also
learn not to be scared of people; a process that doesn’t take only a few days,
weeks or months. The increase in the number of wild gorilla groups creates a
need for more efforts and speed in the habituation process of the forest giants.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
However, governments of the proud homes of the mountain
gorillas, together with wildlife authorities and conservationists have
recruited more staff on the gorilla monitoring teams to quicken the work. Also
strict rules and regulations about gorilla habituation have been put in place
just to ensure the safety of both the gorillas and the travelers as well as the
guides. <o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
And yes, with the increased number of trained and
experienced guides and rangers, tourists trekking the gorillas shouldn’t worry
of any uncertainties. The fact that even the insecurities reduced in Virunga
massif, gorilla habituation is even safer than before. <o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Remember that Gorilla trekking and habituation can only be
done in three African countries, Uganda, Rwanda and the Democratic republic of
Congo. Almost three quarters of the endangered mountain gorillas dwell in
Uganda’s Bwindi impenetrable forest national park and <b><a href="https://gorillasafarisinuganda.blogspot.com/2018/03/gorilla-trekking-in-mgahinga-gorilla.html#more" target="_blank"><span style="color: #660000;">Mgahinga national park</span>.</a></b><o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
The remaining mountain gorilla population is in Volcanoes
national park of Rwanda and Virunga national park of DR Congo. Up-close
encounters with the mighty giants of the forest furnish lifetime memories, it
is one experience no man should miss.<o:p></o:p></div>

<h2>
<b>WHY DO SILVERBACK GORILLAS FIGHT?</b></h2>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
The endangered mighty mountain gorillas dwelling in Bwindi
impenetrable forest national park and Mgahinga national park in Uganda, <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"><a href="https://gorillasafarisinuganda.blogspot.com/2018/11/a-guide-to-gorilla-trekking-in.html#more" target="_blank"><span style="color: red;">Volcanoes national park in Rwanda</span></a></b> and the
Virunga Park of Democratic Republic of Congo clearly portray the mighty work of
God. <o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Species that are so rare, very huge and strong yet still
humble are a real wonder in the African gigantic jungles. Several mountain
gorillas are habituated in these parks and are now very familiar with human
beings, so gorilla trekking doesn’t interfere with their day to day experiences
like playing, feeding, grooming and travelling as close as 7 meters away from
the trekkers.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Mountain gorillas live in troops led by a dominant male
gorilla called a <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"><a href="https://www.loveugandasafaris.com/uganda-silverback-gorillas" target="_blank"><span style="color: blue;">silverback gorilla</span></a></b>.
He controls and protects his family as any other leader would do. These are
gentle wild apes that are calmly living in the thick forests on the Virunga
chain of volcanoes, however, they are good fighters in any case, and below are
the rare cases why silverback gorillas fight. <o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Silverback gorillas are very innocent and gentle wild
animals. They don’t frequently fight, in most cases they express their behavior
through pounding their chests and loud hooting. Fighting is not even an option
for solving their problems.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
In most cases, silverbacks can only fight when they are in
fighting moods, if in their lazy moods, they simply ignore simple things them
being very gentle animals. The sharp canines’ teeth and their great strength
makes them very dangerous animals when in fighting moods.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
</div>
<a name='more'></a><br /><br />
<div class="MsoNormal">
Silverback gorillas also when they are threatened by another
group. Occasionally, when two <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"><a href="https://gorillasafarisinuganda.blogspot.com/2018/11/new-gorilla-families-in-bwindi.html#more" target="_blank"><span style="color: red;">gorilla families</span></a> </b>meet, the dominant silverbacks usually fight to death using their
sharp canine teeth to deeply injure the other one. This is to prove their
worth, and in most cases, the silverback that wins, takes on even the second
group and they merge into one gorilla family.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
A silverback also fights just to protect his family members.
Him being in charge as the troop leaders, he has to ensure that his family is
safe and sound. Anything that appears like a threat to the family has to be fought
against early enough. A silverback can easily give up his life for the safety
of his family. That is how strong their solidarity is. <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span><o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Silverbacks still fight their predators like the leopards,
forest elephants and human beings. Just like human beings get scared after
seeing an unusual figure, also gorillas get scared on sighting moving features
that don’t look like them and this is what pushes them to fight.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
At times the dominant silverbacks fight silverbacks from
other gorilla families when they want to conquer that group. Silverbacks are
naturally aggressive animals that would fight to death just to ensure that they
are in charge of any group desired. Alternatively, a dominant silverback can
also fight a blackback (a young male gorilla) that seems to be a threat to his
position in the troop.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Note that silverbacks also attach people sometimes when
disturbed. This is the major reason for <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"><a href="https://gorillasafarisinuganda.blogspot.com/2018/07/gorilla-trekking-briefing-what-its-all.html#more" target="_blank"><span style="color: red;">gorilla trekking briefing</span></a></b> where the trekkers are cautioned on the dos and don’ts while
in the forest with the gorillas to avoid
the gorilla charge. Trekkers are usually advised not to get so close to the
silverbacks as they would easily think that you want to fight them. Also
trekkers are only allowed to take as many pictures as possible provided the
flash is off because this would again scare the gorillas. <o:p></o:p></div>

<div class="MsoNormal">
Gorilla trekking is one of the most exclusive tourism
activities that most travelers never want to miss. One can easily leave out
anything else except <b><a href="https://www.loveugandasafaris.com/gorilla-trekking-in-uganda" target="_blank"><span style="color: blue;">gorilla trekking in Uganda</span></a></b>. But it’s not about trekking any gorilla family, some families
simply offer exceptional experiences.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Trekking the <b>gorillas
in Uganda</b> is majorly done in <b>Bwindi
impenetrable forest national park</b>, though some few tourists also trek the
gorillas in <b>Mgahinga national park</b>. <o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Being the prime home for mountain gorillas in Uganda, Bwindi
impenetrable forest national park has thirteen <b>habituated gorilla families</b>, all furnishing awesome experiences
that no trekker can ever regret. However, some few special ones like Mubare and
Rushegura gorilla families offer extreme thrilling encounters that cannot
easily be forgotten.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Basing on the reports from the previous trekkers, gorilla
monitoring team plus the guides and park rangers, Mubare gorilla family is one
of the most interesting families that a trekker can ever trek. Named after the
beautiful Mubare hills where the group resides in <b><a href="https://www.loveugandasafaris.com/gorilla-trekking-in-buhoma-sector" target="_blank"><span style="color: blue;">Buhoma gorilla region</span></a></b>, it was the first gorilla family to be
habituated in Uganda back in 1998. <o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
The group was first sighted by trackers around Mubare hills.
By then it was led by the late Ruhondeza who passed on in 2013 after a fight
with a black back that wanted to take over the leadership. Ruhondeza
surrendered and quit the family and found dead later on. <o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiGnHVcl0Bq6PrQDfsqGQ5aLx5GV4wwuD5dsmOkQ0XVyqfvpEjMVpfC_jXwAsQ_5nZuio7AAUHf9X_I5bbyjU2tO7kbkmNPHgPnKrLFO63M9eAKWOd0Mqcd4Y3GpR763iofZZbZHVDFtiU/s1600/mubare.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="569" data-original-width="1024" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiGnHVcl0Bq6PrQDfsqGQ5aLx5GV4wwuD5dsmOkQ0XVyqfvpEjMVpfC_jXwAsQ_5nZuio7AAUHf9X_I5bbyjU2tO7kbkmNPHgPnKrLFO63M9eAKWOd0Mqcd4Y3GpR763iofZZbZHVDFtiU/s1600/mubare.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Ruhondeza was a jealousy silverback that would kill any
suspected black back that wanted to take over. He didn’t groom any successor
even when he was aging. The Mubare family group had over 18 gorillas, the
family continuously shrunk in number to only five members as Ruhondeza had
grown really too old to protect the group very well.</div>
<a name='more'></a><o:p></o:p><br />
<div class="MsoNormal">
The hardest year for the family was 2009 when it lost three
members. One adult female died early that year leaving behind a wee infant of
just six months. The group tried to take care of the baby but was also found
dead one morning in Ruhondeza’s bed. <o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
In 2012, the group was attacked by a wild un habituated
gorilla that defeated Ruhondeza and took away some females from the group. This
really frustrated Ruhondeza and surrendered the leadership of the group. He
took refuge in the nearby community forest. Being so much loved in the local
community, he was not chased away which made it easy for the Uganda Wildlife
Authority to monitor till his death.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Ruhondeza died in sleep and was buried in a very descent way
near the Uganda Wildlife Authority headquarters. Visitors trekking <b>gorillas in Buhoma sector</b> can always
ask the guide to kindly show them the mighty grave of Ruhondeza the great
silverback.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
The black back immediately took on and became the <b><a href="https://www.loveugandasafaris.com/uganda-silverback-gorillas" target="_blank"><span style="color: blue;">dominant silverback</span></a></b>, he did several
raiding and expanded the group from five to nine members. He has continuously
worked very hard to restore back their glory, and perhaps he will expand more
the family.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
With such a beautiful story behind Mubare gorilla family, a
group that nearly collapsed to zero didn’t give up, it is still strong, it is
still hospitable, and it is still happy and amazing. This is what makes it
different from all other gorilla families. It is one pleasurable group that
offers thrilling encounters that create life long memories. It is simply worth
visiting. <o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Some of Mubare’s members are Kanyonyi a black back, an adult
female called Kashundwe, a sub adult male; Muyambi, Malaika who is a sub adult
female and Kashundwe the infant one. <o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
</div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
If In Bwindi impenetrable forest national park, with a
chance of choosing which gorilla family to trek, Mubare family is the best way
to go for a once in a lifetime encounter with the gorillas. <o:p></o:p></div>

Travelling to a strange destination would be another
daunting task that travelers rarely imagine of, especially while on <b>safaris in Africa</b>. Countries that are so wild, with lonely long distance roads, vast weird
landscapes, impenetrable forests and several other amazing features.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Yes, travelers have heard that Rwanda is one of the smallest
countries in Africa, and they probably think that travelling to such a
pocket-sized country is just a walk over. Travelers easily think that even one road
trip would be enough to discover the whole country.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
But Rwanda has a lot to offer to tourists on <b><a href="https://www.loveugandasafaris.com/rwanda-safaris.html" target="_blank"><span style="color: red;">safaris in Rwanda</span></a></b>. Besides being the land of a thousand hills, Rwanda is also a proud home
of the endangered mountain gorillas that are only found in three countries of
Uganda, Democratic Republic of Congo and Rwanda. <o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Talking of Rwanda’s gorillas, <b>Volcanoes National park</b> is the
prime dwelling for the <b>gorillas in Rwanda</b> furnishing exclusive gorilla trekking
experiences. Most travelers flock the country for these once in lifetime
moments and end up with flopped trips. However, if not all, then almost all the
would be gorilla trekkers in Rwanda should get to this guide to gorilla
trekking in Volcanoes national park.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">

<b><a href="https://gorillasafarisinuganda.blogspot.com/2018/03/volcanoes-national-park-hub-for-gorilla.html#more" target="_blank"><span style="color: blue;">Gorilla trekking in Volcanoes National park</span></a></b> involves walking
through the forest on the foothills of the Virunga ranges, a chain of volcanoes
shared by Uganda, Rwanda and DR Congo. Trekkers walk through the thick forest,
on the slippery slopes without even clear routes, having to pave their way out,
but all these, sum into one lifelong gorilla trekking memory. <o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
All the trekkers in Volcanoes national park should be with a
gorilla permit. No tourist is allowed to join the trekking team without a gorilla
permit. It costs 1500 USD in the high season and 1050 USD in the low season. The
gorilla permit includes the trekkers’ name, date of trekking and the group to
trek.</div>
<a name='more'></a><o:p></o:p><br />
<div class="MsoNormal">
Without any exception, all gorilla trekking trips in
Volcanoes national park start with a simple <b><a href="https://gorillasafarisinuganda.blogspot.com/2018/07/gorilla-trekking-briefing-what-its-all.html#more" target="_blank"><span style="color: blue;">gorilla trekking briefing</span></a></b> at the park headquarters.
No trekker can enter into the jungle without attending the briefing. It is all about telling the trekkers the dos and don’ts while in the
forest, the rules and regulations, permit confirmations and division into groups
of eight trekkers.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Note that all tourists below the age of 15 years are not
allowed to trek the gorillas in Volcanoes national park. Even sick trekkers are
restricted from trekking just because the endangered mountain apes are so
susceptible to human diseases like cough, flu and diarrhea which could easily
cause death to the gorillas. <o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Gorilla trekking starts from the park headquarters at 7 am.
This is why most trekkers are advised to sleep in lodges within the park or
those very close to the park so that they can catch up with the early morning
trekking.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Volcanoes national park is a wide span covering over 169
square kilometers, located in Musanze, a town that is very accessible even with
public means from Kigali or Gisenyi. It is just a two hour drive from the
capital to the park, so it is very possible for one day treks and back home.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Trekkers can also engage in other activities other than
gorilla trekking. Hiking Karisimbi volcano, <b><a href="https://www.loveugandasafaris.com/mount-bisoke-in-rwanda" target="_blank"><span style="color: red;">mount Bisoke hike</span></a></b>, visiting the

<h2>
NEW GORILLA FAMILIES IN BWINDI IMPENETRABLE FOREST NATIONAL PARK</h2>
Something that we have all been waiting for, a day that more
gorilla families will be habituated in Uganda to make a total of 15 mountain
gorilla families to visit while on a <b><a href="https://www.loveugandasafaris.com/wp-content/cache/all/gorilla-safaris-in-uganda-gorilla-tours.html/index.html" target="_blank"><span style="color: red;">gorilla safari in Uganda</span></a></b>, the biggest
number of gorilla groups in the three countries where gorillas reside.<br />
<div class="MsoNormal">
<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Mountain gorillas are one of the most endangered forest
animals in the world. And perhaps this gives a reason why several travelers
from all over the world flock to Africa just to have themselves an opportunity
to encounter with these great apes of the jungle in their natural setting.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Unfortunately, there are only three countries that the
gorillas call home; Uganda, Rwanda and DR Congo in their <b>Bwindi impenetrable
forest national park </b>and Mhaginga national park, <b>Volcanoes national park</b> plus
<b><a href="https://gorillasafarisinuganda.blogspot.com/2018/05/gorilla-trekking-in-virunga-national.html#more" target="_blank">Virunga national park</a> </b>respectively, all located in the Virunga ranges. These
are the prime homes of mountain gorillas in the World, the other likely
gorillas are in zoos.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Of the three countries, Uganda’s Bwindi impenetrable forest
national park accommodates the largest number of mountain gorillas. With over 500
gorillas, Uganda has almost ¾ of the total population of the mountain gorillas.
Bwindi impenetrable national park is the paramount dwelling for the gorillas in
Uganda with 12 mountain gorilla families and Mgahinga national park with one
gorilla troop summing to 13 gorilla families.<br />
<a name='more'></a><o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Of recent, the Uganda Wildlife Authority (the body in charge
of wildlife in Uganda) announced two new gorilla families in Bwindi that have
been habituated ready for trekking in Nkuringo and Buhoma sections of the park.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
The Christmas and Katwe gorilla family are the new
habituated groups in Bwindi. The Christmas family is in Nkuringo region, making
three families in the region. It is of 9 members headed by a dominant
silverback called Christmas. Before the Nkuringo region had only two groups of
Nkuringo family and Bushawo to be visited daily. Now this new group increases
the number of permits that travelers can book to 24 daily permits.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
The Katwe gorilla family is located in Buhoma region in the
northern sector of Bwindi. The troop comprises of one dominant silverback, two
babies and four adult females, it makes 4 gorilla groups in Buhoma, something
that has increased the <b><a href="https://www.loveugandasafaris.com/gorilla-permits-in-rwanda" target="_blank"><span style="color: red;">gorilla permits</span></a></b> from 24 to 32 daily permits.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
With such an increase, gorilla trekking is expected to rise
higher. Gorilla trekking in Uganda is the movement of trekkers on foot, through
the impenetrable African jungles in search of the mountain gorillas in their
natural dwellings. <b>Gorilla trekking</b> is the most exclusive tourism activity in
Africa that gives visitors really up close encounters with the gentle apes of
the forest.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
However, Uganda being the pearl of Africa, it has numerous
attractions that are worth beholding. For travelers on <b>Uganda gorilla safaris
</b>can also expect to visit several cultural centers, other wildlife national
parks, waterfalls, misty mountains, and beautiful sceneries. When it comes to
nature, Uganda can never disappoint, it simply has something for everyone.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
If you have not yet planned a <b><a href="https://www.loveugandasafaris.com/uganda-special-offers.html" target="_blank"><span style="color: red;">Uganda trip</span></a></b>, it’s high time
you included it on your bucket list to eye witness why Winston dubbed the
country the true pearl of Africa.<o:p></o:p></div>

<b>2 BABY GORILLAS BORN IN VIRUNGA NATIONAL PARK</b><o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
It is of common knowledge that DR Congo is one of the enviable
countries that home the planet’s last remaining mountain gorillas. With more
than just one park that furnish exclusive <a href="https://www.loveugandasafaris.com/how-to-plan-a-gorilla-trekking-safari" target="_blank"><b><span style="color: blue;">gorilla trekking </span></b></a>experiences, DR Congo is included on the world travel map as the
only country where both mountain and lowland gorillas are found.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Gorillas in DR Congo are found in Kahuzi Biega (lowland
gorillas) and Virunga national parks, though Virunga is more famous because
it’s a proud home of both the mountain and lowland gorillas. However, whichever
park you choose, be sure of unmatched gorilla encounters.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Virunga national park is one of the most bio-diverse places
on planet earth lying in the forested depths of eastern Congo that will never
disappoint any visitor. Large impenetrable forests carpeting the huge Virunga
series of Volcanoes harbor more than 500 gorillas, something that is so rare to
find anyhow.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
The park has eight habituated mountain gorilla families including
the Kabirizi, Humba, Rugendo, Mapuwa, Lulengo, Munyaga, Nyakamwe, and Bageni
with each group having a unique story to tell. All the groups are ready to
receive visitors and offer memorable experiences on any <a href="https://www.loveugandasafaris.com/the-best-season-to-visit-democratic-republic-of-congo" target="_blank"><b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"><span style="color: blue;">gorilla safari in Congo</span></b>.</a><o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
The park being with quite a good number of gorillas more
than Uganda and Rwanda, it recently still received two baby gorillas from the
Rugendo and Humba families. It was great excitement when two newly born babies
were discovered on 26th of July 2018 by the park rangers who were
checking on the wellbeing of all the gorilla families as their daily work.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Rugendo family initially had 29 members who now became 30
after a 19 years old Kayenga gave birth. The 8 years old Anangana’s new baby
became the 15th member in Humba family. Even before these new
mothers gave birth, 7 more baby gorillas were born earlier this year making a
total sum of 9 baby gorillas. This is good news to the tourism industry of the
country as gorilla trekking is the major foreign exchange earner.</div>
<a name='more'></a><o:p></o:p><br />
<div class="MsoNormal">
Over the past ten years, the habituated gorilla families in <a href="https://gorillasafarisinuganda.blogspot.com/2018/05/gorilla-trekking-in-virunga-national.html#more" target="_blank"><b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"><span style="color: red;">Virunga national park</span></b> </a>have played a
major role in increasing the worldwide population of mountain gorillas with a
significant rise from the 790 gorillas recorded in 2010.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Note that gorilla trekking permits in DR Congo are at 450 USD,
which is much way cheaper than those of Uganda and Rwanda at 600 USD and 1500
USD respectively. <a href="https://gorillasafarisinuganda.blogspot.com/2018/08/why-is-uganda-best-for-gorilla-trekking.html#more" target="_blank"><b><span style="color: red;">Gorilla trekking in Uganda</span></b> </a>is done in its impenetrable forest of Bwindi national park and
Mgahinga national park. In Rwanda, it is only done in Volcanoes national park.
All these parks are comfortably positioned in the Virunga chained volcanoes.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Just because Virunga national park has been interrupted
several political unrests, it would have been one of the most visited
destinations in Africa because it’s a prime home for the largest number of
mountain gorillas in the world.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
However, with the continued efforts of the park management
and the government, more strategies have been set up to ensure tighter security
and safety of both the great apes and the park rangers. <o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Just in the near future, there will be no safer place for
gorilla tours in Africa like Virunga national park in DR Congo. <o:p></o:p></div>

<b>GORILLA TREKKING IN BWINDI NP VERSUS MGAHINGA GORILLA NP</b><br />
<div class="MsoNormal">
<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Uganda is one of the three countries in Africa that are
blessed to be with the endangered mountain gorillas. It is of common knowledge
that gorilla trekking in Africa is only done in Uganda, Rwanda and DR Congo.
They are the only countries where travelers get opportunities of having real up
close encounters with the great apes in their natural environments.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Apparently, <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">gorilla
trekking in Uganda</b> is done in two national parks of Bwindi impenetrable forest
national park and Mgahinga national park, both located in southwestern Uganda
and part of the Virunga ranges shared<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>by
three countries. <o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Uganda has more than 500 mountain gorillas calling her two
national parks homes, which is almost three quarters of the total remaining
population of gorillas in the world. This is probably the reason why gorilla
trekking is the prime tourism activity in Uganda. Travelers barely leave the
country without trekking the gentle giants in the impenetrable forests.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Before visitors decide to book their <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"><a href="https://www.blogger.com/"><span style="color: blue;"><span id="goog_735474804"></span>gorilla safaris in Uganda</span><span id="goog_735474805"></span></a></b>, they need to convince themselves that
they are choosing the best destination for gorilla trekking in Uganda. For this
reason, we compare <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">gorilla trekking in
Bwind</b>i and that in Mgahinga national park. And note that all these parks
furnish awesome trekking experiences, but basing on the needs and expectations
of the travelers, comparison maybe vital.<br />
<a name='more'></a><o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Bwindi impenetrable forest national park is a UNESCO world
heritage center situated in southwestern Uganda in Kisoro, Kanungu and Kabale
districts. More than 400 mountain gorillas call it a home and this is the
park’s flagship. Almost half of the world’s total population of mountain
gorillas dwell here, putting Bwindi on the travel map of the world.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"><a href="https://www.loveugandasafaris.com/queen-elizabeth-national-park-uganda.html" target="_blank"><span style="color: blue;">Mgahinga national park</span></a></b> is also located in southwestern Uganda, though at the extreme corner
of the country in Kisoro district. The park is positioned on the Virunga ranges
shared by three countries of Rwanda, Uganda and DR Congo. In contrast to
Bwindi, Mgahinga has very few mountain gorilla hiding it its tropical forests.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Bwindi impenetrable forest national park has 14 habituated
gorilla families compared to the one group in Mgahinga national park. Trekkers
in Mgahinga are only exposed to only Nyakagezi gorilla family, but in Bwindi,
trekkers have a variety of families to trek in one of the four gorilla regions.
In <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"><a href="https://www.loveugandasafaris.com/gorilla-trekking-in-buhoma-sector" target="_blank"><span style="color: red;">Buhoma region</span></a></b> located in the
north of the park, travelers can trek the Mubare, Habinyanja, Rushegura and
Katwe gorilla family which is the most recent habituated troop. From the
eastern side in Ruhija, one can visit the Kyaguriro, Oruzongo or Bitukura
families. And travelers that opt for the southern region are sure of trekking
in either in Nkuringo or Rushaga sectors for numerous gorilla families that
reside there. <o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Both Mgahinga and Bwindi are accessed by road using the same
route going through Mbarara, Kabale and Kisoro. They can also be accessed by
air and flights don’t take more than two hours from Entebbe international
airport to Kisoro using Aero link.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
About the accommodation, Bwindi impenetrable forest national
has lodges spread all around the forest ranging from budget, midrange to luxury
that give trekkers chances to decide accordingly. But in Mgahinga national
park, there are limited options to choose from, the only upmarket lodge here is
Gahinga lodge and the rest are located in Kisoro town. <o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
For Bwindi’s closer proximity to other national parks also
makes it the most appropriate destination for trekking the <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">gorillas in Uganda</b> as it can easily combine with other park
activities for memorable experiences. It is just a two hour drive from Bwindi
to Queen Elizabeth national park, so a traveler heading to Bwindi can easily do

<b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"><a href="https://www.loveugandasafaris.com/queen-elizabeth-national-park-uganda.html" target="_blank"><span style="color: red;">Queen Elizabeth national park</span></a></b> is the second largest national park and with the highest
number of wildlife species in Uganda. It is famously known for its beautiful
landscapes filled with craters rolled in the soaring hills in western Uganda.
One thing that visitors never miss out while in this park is a boat ride on
Kazinga channel joining Lake Edward and Lake George, it is probably the longest
channel in the world. Also lion tracking is rampant here as the park is the
only place with tree climbing lions, a species that is most sought by almost
all visitors in Uganda in her Ishasha sector.<o:p></o:p></div>

<div class="MsoNormal">
<b>GORILLA DESTINATIONS IN AFRICA</b><o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
The mountain gorillas can only be seen in three African
Countries; Uganda, Democratic republic of Congo and Rwanda. These countries
share the Virunga ranges where the mountain gorillas reside in the tropical and
montane forests. All the three countries give travelers chances to encounter
with the gorillas face to face, simply a lifetime experience.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Uganda, the pearl of Africa hosts half of the population of
mountain Gorillas in its <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"><a href="https://www.loveugandasafaris.com/gorilla-trekking-in-buhoma-sector" target="_blank"><span style="color: red;">Bwindi impenetrable forest national park</span></a></b> and Mgahinga national park with 12
gorilla families open to travelers to trek and one for the four hour gorilla
habituation. The Mgahinga gorilla national park is part of the tri national Virunga
conservation area and the gorilla group in this park used to cross to DR Congo
and Rwanda but now it settled in Uganda. <o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
With these destinations, Uganda is currently the <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">top mountain gorilla destination in Africa</b>.
The four gorilla regions in Bwindi present unregretable offers to trek the
gentle apes in the jungle. Trekking the gorillas in Uganda’s gorilla homes
involves simple hikes into the jungle to search for the elusive gorillas, on
meeting them, spend a full hour watching the mighty silverbacks play with each
other from one tree branch to another and taking photos of this thrilling
moment. This is indeed a magical hour.</div>
<a name='more'></a><o:p></o:p><br />
<div class="MsoNormal">
Note that Uganda does not only offer gorilla safaris, but
also <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">chimpanzee tracking in Kibale
forest</b>, Budongo forest, Kyabura gorge, Kalinzu ecotourism site and many
others. Still in Uganda, visitors enjoy game-drives in the hidden beautiful
savannah parks, boat cruises on the mirror like water bodies and strenuous yet
exciting hikes to the top of numerous mountains and hills.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Rwanda, also known as the land of a thousand hills is
another gorilla home in Africa. With only 10 habituated gorilla groups in <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">volcanoes national park</b>; the prime home
for gorilla trekking in Rwanda, the country furnishes ape experiences that are
not experienced anywhere else in Africa. Rwanda is the ancestor of <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">gorilla tourism in Africa</b> where gorilla
tracking was first initiated in the campaign to save the great apes by Dian
Fossey.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Travelers on<a href="https://gorillasafarisinuganda.blogspot.com/2018/08/gorilla-safaris-in-rwanda.html#more" target="_blank"> <b><span style="color: blue;">Rwanda gorilla trekking safaris</span></b> </a>still consider exploring Akagera national park for
wildlife viewing, the best park for game drives in Rwanda and a boat cruise on Lake
Ihema. Other visitors opt to explore Nyungwe forest national park for the only
canopy walk in east Africa and chimpanzee tracking.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
While on a <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">safari in
Rwanda</b>, trotters also enjoy comfortable boat cruises on Lake Kivu with
pleasant relaxation. <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">Cultural safaris in
Rwanda</b> are one thing one can never go wrong on. So if anywhere in or around
Rwanda, a combined gorilla safari with other tourism products in Rwanda is
worth every single penny.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Talking about <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">gorilla
destinations in Africa</b>, Democratic Republic of Congo cannot be left out.
The country also got a fair share of the<span style="background-color: white;"> <b><a href="https://gorillasafarisinuganda.blogspot.com/2018/05/gorilla-trekking-in-virunga-national.html#more" target="_blank"><span style="color: blue;">mountain gorillas in Virunga national park</span></a></b></span> and Kahuzi Biega national park. DR Congo
would have offered the best gorilla trekking experiences in Africa because even
its gorilla permits are relatively cheaper than those in Uganda and Rwanda,
but, the country has for long been mulled with wars and political instabilities
limiting the number trekkers that flock the country.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Note that DR Congo’s Virunga national park is the only park
in Africa where the mountain gorillas meet with the lowland gorillas, so
primate lovers can simply trek both the ape species in one park for lifelong
experiences.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Something important to remember is that <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">mountain gorilla trekking</b> in these destinations is an all year
round activity, though the best seasons to trek the gorillas would be the dry
seasons of January and February and from June to September. If you have not yet
trekked the mighty apes in their natural habitats, its high time you booked a <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"><a href="https://www.loveugandasafaris.com/budget-gorilla-safaris-in-africa" target="_blank"><span style="color: red;">gorilla safari trip in Uganda, Rwanda and DR Congo</span></a>.</b> Don’t be left by this gorilla trekking error, the most trending
tourist activity in the world.<o:p></o:p></div>

<b>WHAT TO EXPECT ON A
SELF-DRIVE TO SEE MOUNTAIN GORILLAS IN UGANDA.</b><o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Uganda is famously known to the world because of its
gigantic Lake Victoria, the largest fresh water lake in Africa, the most
breathtaking wildlife diversity, the misty mountains, beautiful sceneries all
satisfying the name, “the pearl of Africa”.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
In this rapidly growing tourism era, Uganda mostly boasts in
its big number of endangered <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"><a href="https://gorillasafarisinuganda.blogspot.com/2018/06/why-bwindi-is-best-destination-for.html#more" target="_blank"><span style="color: red;">mountain gorillas in Bwindi impenetrable forest national park</span></a></b> and Mgahinga national
park. Being among the only three African countries with these critically
endangered species, several tourists flock the country to trek the elusive
gorillas in their natural habitats.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
But if on a <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"><a href="https://www.loveugandasafaris.com/uganda-safaris.html" style="background-color: white;" target="_blank"><span style="color: blue;">Uganda safari</span></a></b>, and taking a self-drive to see the gorillas in Mgahinga or Bwindi,
there are countless attractions that can be met on the <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">road trip to Bwindi</b> or Mgahinga the fact that they are all located
in south western Uganda, you almost use the same route. <o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"><a href="https://www.loveugandasafaris.com/uganda-equator" target="_blank"><span style="color: blue;">The equator</span></a></b>. On
the way to Bwindi, this is the closest attraction that tourists encounter. Located
at Kayabwe, along the Kampala – Mbarara highway connecting the capital to the
western region, the equator line divides the world into two hemisphere, the
north and the southern hemisphere. Here watch the water experiment where water
swirls in different directions of the opposite hemisphere. This could be also a
beautiful lunch stop over since its midway Bwindi or Mgahinga and Kampala.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"><a href="http://uganda-wildlifesafaris.blogspot.com/2018/07/an-elegant-excursion-to-lake-mburo.html" target="_blank"><span style="color: red;">Lake Mburo national park</span></a></b>. For a day or two days, this park is the most awesome park to visit in
Uganda. Besides its proximity to the capital, it also has a wide diversity of
wild animals ranging from buffaloes, elephants, zebras, Uganda kobs,
waterbucks, warthogs and many others. Here travelers can still have a boat ride
on Lake Mburo to spot different bird species, crocodiles and hippos. Have great
opportunities to take exceptional photographs of the wildlife and the
interesting colors of the park.</div>
<a name='more'></a> <o:p></o:p><br />
<div class="MsoNormal">
Still as you proceed to the western region for a <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"><a href="https://gorillasafarisinuganda.blogspot.com/" target="_blank"><span style="color: red;">gorilla safari in Uganda</span></a></b>, <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"><a href="https://www.loveugandasafaris.com/kasoga-community-experience-in-queen-elizabeth-national-park" target="_blank"><span style="color: blue;">Queen Elizabeth national park</span></a></b> is
another spot that most travelers pass by to or from Bwindi. This park has a
variety of flora and fauna with more than 90 mammal species calling it a home.
For birders, it’s still a haven homing 612 bird species. Its unique vegetation
and wildlife made it the most liked park by tourists. In just a few minutes of
the drive, visitors spot the Uganda kobs, waterbucks, lions, leopards,
elephants, warthogs among others. Also have a boat ride on the Kazinga channel
joining Lake Edward and Lake George, the renowned channel with the largest
concentration of hippos. The park is simply one spot all travelers shouldn’t
miss on their road trips to see the gorillas.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
The <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">beautiful
sceneries</b>. Any road trip can never be exciting if it’s not flexible. And
western Uganda being the most nature gifted region in the country, a journey
through it is an experience of its own. Nothing is sweeter than a comfortable
drive with beautiful sceneries and views of the rift valley escarpments, Kigezi
hills, and mountains of the moon plus the green savanna lying on the road
sides. And note this, if it excites you, stop and go for it, this is the major
importance of flexibility on a road trip. <o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
On reaching Bwindi impenetrable national park, or Mgahinga
national park, this is another explosion of adventure. Trekking the critically
endangered mountain gorillas in a natural setting is a once in a lifetime
experience. Watching the juveniles play from one tree branch to another, seeing
<b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"><a href="https://www.loveugandasafaris.com/uganda-silverback-gorillas" target="_blank"><span style="color: blue;">the silverback</span></a> </b>jealously protect its
troop and taking pictures of this awesome moment, all just sum into a lifelong
memory.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
For any adventurous traveler that had not yet added a road
trip safari to see the gorillas in Uganda, it’s the right time, visit Uganda
for un imaginary experiences.<o:p></o:p></div>

<b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">BEST PRACTICE
GUIDELINES FOR GREAT APE TOURISM IN AFRICA<o:p></o:p></b></div>

<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgRtYQPUo2v-PgmO32e-k3SJKfO6JjyunRwdk4b30gLEqQ3d3wzqABbj4LaGZwW0zWMGyLkjC4xAKczjWY_Qdkbz-vXj6pshfksH9-bHduSVAOmj_s1Ht7svdeOTxzCNDqlFObrjm3G6zA/s1600/Mountain-gorilla-003.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="481" data-original-width="719" height="266" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgRtYQPUo2v-PgmO32e-k3SJKfO6JjyunRwdk4b30gLEqQ3d3wzqABbj4LaGZwW0zWMGyLkjC4xAKczjWY_Qdkbz-vXj6pshfksH9-bHduSVAOmj_s1Ht7svdeOTxzCNDqlFObrjm3G6zA/s400/Mountain-gorilla-003.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Tourism becoming a popular leisure activity, it has emerged
as one of the world’s major activities done on a daily basis. Global travelers
are increasingly becoming desirous of adventure activities, those that create
huge thrills within their souls, and most importantly, activities that can burn
flames of memories for a lifetime.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
The urge for trotters to travel to remote international
wildlife sites to have themselves chances to encounter with the critically endangered
gorillas, chimps and other primate species in their natural habitats has paved
a huge way for <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"><a href="https://gorillasafarisinuganda.blogspot.com/2018/08/is-gorilla-trekking-good-for.html#more" target="_blank"><span style="color: #990000;">great ape tourism in Africa</span></a></b> to rise to great heights.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Though, if well managed, ape tourism can conserve the <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"><a href="https://gorillasafarisinuganda.blogspot.com/" target="_blank"><span style="color: #990000;">great apes in Africa</span></a></b> as well as improving
the economic status of the countries where they call homes, we still can’t deny
the impact that it creates on the animals and their natural environments.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
This is the very reason why the wildlife together with
tourism bodies have drafted some simple rules and regulations to follow while
visiting the apes. These are not really laws, but rather guidelines to develop
both the existing and potential ape tourism sites in favor of conservation than
just the mere exploitation of these gentle animals.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
On any <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">ape safari in
Africa</b>, visitors to trek these giants must be with permits. No trekker is
allowed to enter into the forest to hunt for the apes without a permit that
confirms his payments to cater for the park guide, conservation projects, park
entrance fees and the monitoring team of the apes. On most <b><a href="https://www.loveugandasafaris.com/combined-africa-safaris.html" target="_blank"><span style="color: #38761d;">African safaris</span></a></b>, the assigned tour operators have booked permits
for their clients in advance before the actual trip time.</div>
<a name='more'></a> <o:p></o:p><br />
<div class="MsoNormal">
Whether on a <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">gorilla
trekking safari in Bwindi</b>, or <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"><a href="https://gorillasafarisinuganda.blogspot.com/2018/03/chimpanzee-tracking-in-kibale-national.html#more" target="_blank"><span style="color: #990000;">chimp tracking in kibale</span></a></b>, trekkers should maintain an eight meters distance away
from the great apes. It is very important not to come into so close contact
with these wild animals as they can easily attack you since they are just
starting to get used with human interactions. Even this distance is vital just
in case anything happens, you have room to defend yourself.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Travelers with diseases like flu, cough or diarrhea are
strictly not allowed to trek the <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">apes in
Africa</b>, especially the gorillas and chimps because they can easily contract
these diseases which would sometimes lead to death yet we are all in the
struggle to see that we conserve the great apes.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Young children below the age of 15 years are prohibited from
<b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"><a href="https://gorillasafarisinuganda.blogspot.com/2018/08/gorilla-safaris-in-rwanda.html#more" target="_blank"><span style="color: #990000;">trekking the gorillas in Rwanda</span></a></b> or <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"><a href="https://gorillasafarisinuganda.blogspot.com/2017/06/the-primates-of-nyungwe-forest-national.html#more" target="_blank"><span style="color: #990000;">chimps in Nyungwe national park</span></a></b> as well
as any other ape that can be trekked in Africa. This is to minimize the risk if
exposing the apes to childhood diseases like the measles, mumps and chicken
pox.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
For<b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"> <a href="https://gorillasafarisinuganda.blogspot.com/2018/08/on-african-safari-is-gorilla-trekking.html#more" target="_blank"><span style="color: #990000;">gorilla trekking in Africa</span></a></b>, each gorilla group must receive only one group of eight visitors
per day and on meeting them, visitors spend strictly one hour with these gentle
giants of the forest to minimize disturbances and the possible risks of
infections.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Flash photography is not allowed while with the apes. So
trekkers can take as many photos as they want provided the cameras don’t have
flashlight as they can frighten away the apes and also may provoke an
aggressive charge. <o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Trekkers are not to eat, drink or smoke if they are within
200 meters with the great apes because food and other remains may cause
infections to the endangered apes. And all wastes should be buried as fasces
can injure the apes and other animals.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
For safe ape <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"><a href="http://uganda-wildlifesafaris.blogspot.com/" target="_blank"><span style="color: #990000;">tours in Africa</span></a></b>, such simple guidelines would enable all travelers to have a calm
yet exciting ape experience for memories that won’t easily run away from their
minds. Note that ape tourism in Africa can be done in Uganda, Rwanda and DR
Congo.<o:p></o:p></div>

<div class="MsoNormal">
The park has 10 habituated gorilla families plus one put
aside for research. This gives chance to 80 tourists to encounter the gorillas
per day basing on the principle that each family receives only eight visitors
in a day.</div>
<a name='more'></a><o:p></o:p><br />
<div class="MsoNormal">
It takes 1 – 8 hours to trek the gorillas in volcanoes
national park depending on the luck of the trekkers. One group can spot the
apes in just an hour and another can even finish the eight hours without spotting
any group. However with the help of the experienced guides in Volcanoes
national park, you cannot leave the park without seeing any.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Note that young children below the age 15 years are not
allowed to trek the gorillas. Also the sick people with flu, cough and any
other disease are not allowed as the gorillas are so vulnerable to flu and
cough and can easily contradict them.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Having walked through the beautiful lush with stinging and
burning nettles, paving your way out with a stick or your hands up the muddy
steep slopes of the volcano, you finally meet the endangered ages that every
tourist yearns to encounter. Looking into the brown eyes of a silverback is
simply a moment of excitement of achieving your long desired dream.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Spend a full hour just watching these shy and aggressive
species, beating their chest and making funny sounds of anger and joy. Take as
many pictures as you want provided you don’t use a flash as it annoys the
gorillas and it might even send them away.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
After <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"><a href="https://gorillasafarisinuganda.blogspot.com/2017/08/welcoming-baby-gorilla-in-volcanoes.html#more" target="_blank"><span style="color: blue;">trekking thegorillas in Volcanoes national park</span></a></b>, you can also have a cultural encounter

walk in the forest and also do birding activities if you are a bird lover.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
More on that, travelers can also do a combined wildlife safari in Rwanda to <b><a href="http://uganda-wildlifesafaris.blogspot.com/2018/06/game-drives-in-akagera-national-park.html" target="_blank"><span style="color: blue;">Akagera national park</span></a></b> for divine game drives and Nyungwe forest national park for unique
chimp trekking and canopy walk. Alternatively, tourists also do <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">Kigali city tours</b> and have themselves
chances to visit the Kigali Genocide memorial and other memorial grounds.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
There can only be a few other places in the world, or even
none that can offer safari experiences that are so magical like the <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">safaris in Rwanda</b> do. Book now, not
just for a <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">trip in Rwanda</b>, but for

<div class="MsoNormal">
<b>WHY IS UGANDA BEST FOR GORILLA TREKKING?</b><o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">Gorilla trekking</b>
being the most selling tourism product in Africa, it has bewitched thousands of
tourists to flock to the continent just to have sights of the extremely amazing
gentle giants of the forestry.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Unfortunately, only three African countries of Uganda,
Rwanda and DR Congo offer <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"><a href="https://gorillasafarisinuganda.blogspot.com/2018/07/inclusions-of-gorilla-trip-cost.html#more" target="_blank"><span style="color: lime;">gorilla trekking safaris</span></a></b>. They are the only prime homes of the mountain gorillas
with the totality of the remaining population of these apes in the world. <o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Yes, all these three countries offer stunning experiences
while trekking the forest giants, but a single trip to all the gorilla homes
would probably be too expensive and not affordable. So the question is, what is
the best gorilla trekking destination in Africa? Several travel experts have
chosen Uganda basing on some assorted reasons.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Uganda having the largest population of mountain gorillas
compared to other gorilla homes in Africa makes it the best gorilla
destination. Half of the world’s total remaining mountain gorillas lives in
Uganda’s Bwindi impenetrable forest and <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">Mgahiga
national park</b>. The over 400 endangered apes are grouped into 12 habituated gorilla
families. So a gorilla tour in Uganda gives travelers 98% chances of watching
the jungle giants in their natural habitats.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"><a href="https://www.loveugandasafaris.com/gorilla-safaris-in-uganda-gorilla-tours.html" target="_blank"><span style="color: red;">Gorilla safaris in Uganda</span></a></b> are more affordable compared to other gorilla tours in Africa. A
gorilla permit in Uganda costs 600 USD, while that of Rwanda is 1500 USD,
doubling that of Uganda. This makes Rwanda a luxury destination that most of
the travelers can’t afford. It’s surprising how a one day <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">gorilla trek in Rwanda</b> can cost the same as the <b><a href="https://www.loveugandasafaris.com/gorilla-safaris-in-uganda-gorilla-tours.html" target="_blank"><span style="color: red;">3 days gorilla tour in Uganda</span></a></b>. For the gorilla permits in DR Congo are way cheaper than Uganda’s at
450 USD, though the risk that comes with the insecurity in the country costs
way higher than in Uganda, making it still the best destination for gorilla
trekking in Africa.</div>
<a name='more'></a><o:p></o:p><br />
<div class="MsoNormal">
Uganda as a country is safe and secure. Unlike DR Congo that
is still facing several rebels, killings of game rangers and constant poaching
in its <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"><a href="https://gorillasafarisinuganda.blogspot.com/2018/05/gorilla-trekking-in-virunga-national.html#more" target="_blank"><span style="color: lime;">Virunga national park</span></a></b>; the
paramount home of gorillas in Congo, Bwindi impenetrable forest and Mgahinga
national park are in safe areas as there are no more conflicts and rebel groups
in Uganda. So the peace and security in Uganda is just convincing enough for it
to be the best destination for gorilla trekking.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
The additional activities on a <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"><a href="https://gorillasafarisinuganda.blogspot.com/2018/05/the-best-season-for-gorilla-trekking-in.html#more" target="_blank"><span style="color: lime;">gorilla trip in Uganda</span></a></b> still push destination Uganda to momentums
in Africa. Having encountered the gorillas in Bwindi impenetrable forest,
travelers can have cultural encounters with the Batwa pygmies of the forest,
the first inhabitants of this ancient forest. Still on the same Uganda gorilla
tour, have thrilling wildlife encounters, spot the buffaloes, elephants, lions,
oribis, warthogs, bush bucks and other mammal species in <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"><a href="http://uganda-wildlifesafaris.blogspot.com/2018/06/the-5-most-visited-national-parks-in.html" target="_blank"><span style="color: lime;">Queen Elizabeth national park</span></a></b>. Other tourists have opted for <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">chimp trekking in Kibale national park</b> to
come in face to face contact with the our closest cousins in the forests. Also
bird lovers cannot miss out on any <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">safari
in Uganda</b> since it’s a birder’s paradise.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Difference in the nature of the landscape. Trekking the
gorillas in Uganda involves a simple hike into the impenetrable forest, making
it appropriate to even the non-physically fit people and the aged. However, <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"><a href="https://www.loveugandasafaris.com/rwanda-gorilla-safaris.html" target="_blank"><span style="color: red;">gorilla trekking in Rwanda</span></a></b> and Congo is
a hike to the steep slopes of the Virunga chained mountains, an activity that
is so hectic though rewarding. This still makes Uganda best for gorilla
trekking.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
They are just the simple things that make Uganda a better
gorilla destination than Rwanda and DR Congo. And without these two countries
adjusting, Uganda is to continue ranking on top for the best gorilla trekking
experiences in Africa.<o:p></o:p></div>

one thing trekkers can never miss if they are to be allowed to go for<a href="https://gorillasafarisinuganda.blogspot.com/2018/03/volcanoes-national-park-hub-for-gorilla.html#more" target="_blank"> <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"><span style="color: #ffd966;">gorillas in Volcanoes national park</span></b></a>,
Bwindi impenetrable national park, Mgahinga national park or Virunga national
park.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Gorilla trekking briefing is done in the morning before
trekkers embark on their hunt for the gentle apes in the forest. It is done at
the park headquarters by the park ranger guide. This is why it is advisable
that trekkers stay in lodges close to the starting points so that they reach in
time for briefing.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
This is a very important act and done in every home of the
gorillas to ensure the conservation of the gorillas as well as the safety of
the trekkers in the sight of the humble giants. As soon as it is done, start
the journey to the forest to behold the critically endangered species of the
jungle.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
This simple briefing involves the checking of the passports
for basic information like the nationality and age since there is an age limit
for <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"><a href="https://gorillasafarisinuganda.blogspot.com/2018/06/why-bwindi-is-best-destination-for.html#more" target="_blank"><span style="color: #f1c232;">Uganda gorilla trekking</span></a></b>. A
visitor with 15 years of age and below is not allowed to trek the giants. The
park ranger cross checks the passports and any other important documents that
might be required before, during or after the trek in the forest just to record
which country more tourists.</div>
<a name='more'></a><o:p></o:p><br />
<div class="MsoNormal">
Gorilla trekking briefing also includes checking of the
validity of the gorilla permit to make sure everyone is rightfully present.
Gorilla permits include the particular dates for <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">trekking the mountain gorillas</b>, so clients are not supposed to come
after or before, and this is the very reason why<b><span style="color: red;"> <a href="https://www.loveugandasafaris.com/" target="_blank"><span style="color: red;">Love Uganda Safaris</span></a></span></b><a href="https://www.loveugandasafaris.com/" target="_blank"> </a>advises
its prospective customers to book like in 4-6 months in advance.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
After registration and approval of the required documents,
qualified trekkers are divided into groups of eight members to see a single
gorilla family. For the conservation of these endangered apes and the natural
setting of the parks, each gorilla group receives only eight visitors a day. <o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
The park ranger guide also briefs the travelers on the dos
and don’ts while moving the forest and with the gorillas. Trekkers are
requested not to dump rubbish like polythenes and plastics in the forest and
not to make noise while searching for the gorillas. <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>They are also advised not to get so close to
the gorillas and not to feed them. The ranger guide still tells the clients to
take as many photos as they want provided their cameras have no flashes.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Trekkers of old age are also told the importance of taking
porters or sedan chairs with them. The fact that<span style="color: #a64d79;"> </span><b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"><a href="https://www.loveugandasafaris.com/wp-content/cache/all/gorilla-safaris-in-uganda-gorilla-tours.html/index.html" target="_blank"><span style="color: #a64d79;">gorilla trekking in Uganda</span></a>,</b> Rwanda or DR Congo involves a little
hiking, some elderly people may not be able to walk to the gorillas, in such
cases, a porter and a sedan chair could be of help.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
The ranger guide also informs trekkers the time that the
gorilla trek is likely to take. It is usually 1-8 hours depending on the luck
of the group. One group can find its gorilla family in one hour and the other
can take 8 hours and still not find it. And on spotting the formidable
gorillas, have a one hour encounter with them, watching them jump from one tree
branch to another and taking photos. Immediately after that magical hour, then
descend from the forest for refreshments.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
It is still during the briefing time that trekkers are free
to ask as many questions as they feel dissatisfied with the briefing. Trekkers
tend to ask more questions about <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"><a href="https://gorillasafarisinuganda.blogspot.com/2018/01/mountain-gorilla-trekking-ethics.html#more" target="_blank"><span style="color: #f1c232;">gorilla trekking rules and regulations</span></a></b> and more information as anyone would wish to
know.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Remember that for any successful <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"><a href="https://www.loveugandasafaris.com/3-days-rwanda-gorilla-trekking-safari.html" target="_blank"><span style="color: #a64d79;">gorilla trek in Rwanda</span></a></b>, DR Congo or Uganda, it should be done by
following the rules.<o:p></o:p></div>

<b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">INCLUSIONS OF A
GORILLA TRIP COST</b><br />
<div class="MsoNormal">
For several travelers on <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"><a href="https://www.loveugandasafaris.com/budget-gorilla-safaris-in-africa" target="_blank"><span style="color: #990000;">gorilla trekking safaris</span></a> </b>yearn to understand the gorilla tour cost
inclusions to help them budget and also burn the feeling of being cheated by
tour operators.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
In order to avoid limited expenditures that sometimes even
dampen the vacationers’ enjoyment and relaxation, it is very key to know what a
gorilla tour cost covers and not.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
At first sight, one can probably think that a <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">gorilla trip</b> is way too expensive than
any other vacation. But the cost depends on the journey distance to the gorilla
home, the price of a gorilla permit, accommodation preferences; budget,
midrange or luxury lodges, number of accompanying activities and number of
travelers to trek the gorilla on the same trip. So the lesser the number, the
more expensive it becomes.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
A <b><a href="https://www.loveugandasafaris.com/gorilla-trekking-safari-uganda.html" target="_blank"><span style="color: #990000;">gorilla tour</span></a></b> cost includes the gorilla permit. This is an
indenture without which one cannot trek the gorillas in any gorilla home. It
includes the gorilla trekking dates, park and region if applicable. A gorilla
permit is priced differently in different gorilla countries, 600 USD, 1500 USD
and 450 USD in Uganda, Rwanda and DR Congo respectively. A trekker with a
permit is not obliged to any payment in the park, for it covers the entrance
fees, visit to the giant apes, ranger fees and photography.<br />
<a name='more'></a><o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Any priced <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">gorilla
safari</b> package still covers the transport costs to and from the gorilla
destinations. Sometimes they may even include airport pickups and drop offs. In
this, a very comfortable vehicle and the fuel fares are covered and all
transfers to and from the sites that are to be visited.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
A full package of a gorilla tour includes the accommodation
for the tourists. However this depends on the nature of lodges that is
preferred, budget lodges are the most affordable ones though with not the best
quality services, the luxury are the high end lodges with extremely high prices
though with unbeaten services and the mid range are the mediocre lodges. A fully
paid <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">gorilla trip</b> covers all the
accommodation expenses, trekkers don’t have to worry about where to dine and
sleep.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Still on the same fare of a <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"><a href="https://gorillasafarisinuganda.blogspot.com/2018/03/gorilla-trekking-in-mgahinga-gorilla.html" target="_blank">gorilla trekking tour</a></b>, meals are covered. One time a tourism expert
asked, “What is a trip without food?”, and indeed a traveler cannot simply
survive without eating. Once a trekker pays for a gorilla tour, the tour
operator caters for all the meals from breakfast to dinner. All the trekker has
to do is to venture into the different thrilling activities and enjoy the fun.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Amazingly, a full gorilla tour package also covers all the
accompanying activities to the gorilla trek plus the entrance fees to the
additional tourism sites to be visited on the trip. It can’t be an <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"><a href="https://gorillasafarisinuganda.blogspot.com/2018/05/the-cheapest-way-to-trek-gorillas-in.html#more" target="_blank">African safari</a></b> if it only goes to one
destination in all the hidden and stunning destinations that Africa holds. And
it doesn’t matter how many additional activities and other sites to be visited,
if included in the itinerary, it’s catered for.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
This tour fare still covers the driver guide fees. A guide
who takes the trekker to and around the planned destinations doesn’t owe him
any single penny, it is all covered by the tour operator. Unless it’s the will
of the traveler to tip the guide in appreciation of the good services.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Note that a costed gorilla trip doesn’t cover the flight
charges to and from the country of origin. It excludes the visa and passport
fees, travel and health insurance, telephone calls, alcoholic drinks,
gratuities like tips to drivers, guides and waiters, optional activities,
laundry and other personal needs. However these might still vary depending on
the tour operator.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
In Africa there are only three countries where gorilla
trekking is done, and done exclusively with thrilling lifetime experiences. Trek
the gentle apes in Rwanda’s <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"><a href="https://www.loveugandasafaris.com/national-parks/rwanda-national-parks/volcanoes-national-park-rwanda.html" target="_blank"><span style="color: #990000;">volcanoes national park</span></a></b>; the oldest national park in Africa. <o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">Gorilla trekking in Uganda</b>
is done in Bwindi impenetrable forest and Mgahinga national park plus Kahuzi biega and <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"><a href="https://gorillasafarisinuganda.blogspot.com/2018/05/tourism-suspended-in-virunga-national.html#more" target="_blank">Virunga national parks in DR Congo</a></b>. It’s always merrymaking to <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">trek the gorillas Africa</b>.<o:p></o:p></div>
