DIANE FOSSEY GRAVE - RWANDA'S PRIDE

DIAN FOSSEY GRAVE HIKE

Born in 1932 was an American zoologist, primatologist, and anthropologist who lived for 53 years thereafter. Because of her great love for primates,
she undertook an extensive study of mountain gorilla groups and families for over 18 years in Rwanda mountain forest, Ruhengeri province. In 1983 she wrote a book about gorillas ‘’Gorillas in the Mist’’ that was later in 1988 filmed with the same title.
While on your visit to Volcanoes national park for a Rwanda Gorilla Safari, you could as well involve in this 1 hours and 30minutes trek from the park headquarters to Dian Fossey’s tomb, moving through forests and hiking up the slopes while viewing forest elephants, primates and a variety of bird species.

Dian Fossey was murdered in 1985 for a cause that is not well known, on reaching the site you will see the house from which she was murdered, then the most peaceful place where she was buried next to her favorite Gorilla friend, Digit.
