Rushaga Gorilla Habituation experience in Bwindi impenetrable national park.
Uganda has made it this
time, so stop worrying of spending only one hour with the endangered mountain
Gorillas. If you wish to spend more than 1 hour with the mountain Gorillas,
then Gorilla habituation experience in Rushaga is the right deal for you.
Gorilla habituation allows you to spend 4 good hours listening, viewing and
learning more about the magnificent mountain gorillas.
Gorilla habituation is
only done in Uganda in the region and can only be experienced in Rushaga region
in Bwindi national park during a gorilla safari in
Uganda. Gorilla habituation in Uganda can also be combined with
a gorilla trekking tour in Rwanda in the northern based
Volcanoes national park.
Mountain gorillas are
only found in three countries Rwanda, Uganda and Democratic Republic of Congo
and these destinations are responsible for protecting and conserving these
world's remaining gorilla species. Countries like Rwanda and D.R.Congo only
offer gorilla trekking but Uganda stands out to be home to both Gorilla
trekking and habituation experiences. In Rushaga sector there are only 2
Gorilla groups available for habituation namely Bikingi and Bushaho gorilla
families.
Rushaga sector of Bwindi
impenetrable forest is found in the southern side of the park and it is the
most visited sector for both gorilla trekking and habituation experiences since
it has very many gorilla families.
Gorilla habituation is
the process where gorillas are trained for up to 2 years on how to live with
human beings as they carry out their day to day activities in the wilderness.
Only 8 people are allowed to do habituation in Rushaga sector on each day, and
only 4 permits are released for every gorilla family. Therefore since the
permits are limited, in case you want to participate in this activity, you have
to book your Uganda gorilla habituation safari well in advance.
Rushaga habituation
permit costs USD 1500 per person, which is more expensive than a gorilla
trekking permit but it is worth it, as visitors get a closer encounter and spend more time with these great apes
and more time in the inspiring Bwindi Jungle where one can also observe a wide
array of rare plant life, birds, and other primates such as monkeys and the wonderful
views of the sprawling mountain scenery.
UWA (Uganda Wildlife
Authority) only allows persons who are 15 years and above to experience the
gorilla habituation in Rushaga region just like it is for gorilla trek.
Gorilla habituation in Uganda is
only done is Rushaga sector of Bwindi and this is the only activity where you
